Chronic Otitis Media
Indications for Surgery

Chronically infected ear with eardrum perforation, or Eardrum perforation with poor eustachion tube function are indications that you may need surgery.
Anesthesia
The Auditory Brainstem Implant procedure requires a General Anesthetic.
Surgical Time
The length of this procedure is 1 to 2 hours.
Hospital Admission
A hospital admission is not required, your procedure will be done on an out patient basis.

Mastoidectomy and Tympanoplasty, in some cases Middle Ear Reconstructive surgery.
Side Note
Frequently associated with Cholesteatoma. Inadequate eustachion tube function may need to be treated with a Tympanostomy Tube.
