Indications for Surgery
Meniere’s Disease unresponsive to non-surgical management. As the surgery results in hearing loss, ears with good hearing are not candidates.
Anesthesia
This procedure requires a General Anesthetic.
Surgical Time
The length of this procedure is 30 minutes.
Hospital Admission
A hospital admission is usually required and potentially out patient.
About the Procedure
The eardrum is elevated and preserved. An instrument is introduced into the inner ear through the round window membrane allowing penetration of the membranous inner ear structures.
