Indications for Surgery

Perforation of the Eardrum is a indication that surgery is necessary.

Anesthesia

This procedure can require a General or a Local Anesthetic.

Surgical Time

The length of this procedure is 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Hospital Admission

A hospital admission is not required, your procedure will be done on an out patient basis.

About the Procedure

Tissue taken from the surface of muscle found above the ear is used to repair the tympanic membrane..

Side Note

Closure of the perforation repairs the sound conducting mechanism restoring hearing. Physicians of CEI are responsible for several techniques used for eardrum reconstruction.
