Facial Hypoglossal
Indications for Surgery
Paralysis of Facial Movement due to facial nerve injury is an indication that you may need surgery.
Anesthesia
This procedure requires General Anesthetic.
Surgical Time
The length of this procedure is 1 to 2 hours.
Hospital Admission
A hospital admission is not required, your procedure will be done on an out patient basis.
About the Procedure
An incision behind the ear allows access to the boney growths. A diamond drill is used to remove the growths, restoring the normal contour of the external auditory canal.
Side Note
This disorder is associated with chronic cold water exposure. Techniques developed at CEI allow preservation of the canal skin and reduces “time out of the water” for surfers to a minimum.
