Surgical Procedure

topical anesthesia is applied to the eardrum under the oto-microscope in the clinic. An incision is made in the eardrum (myringotomy) and Gentamycin is instilled into the middle ear space. The substance diffused into the inner ear through the round window as the patient stays in one position for 20 minutes. One to three treatments are required to bring about the desired effect. The eardrum heals on its own over several days.
